1. What is the vision of HAIT?

– HAIT (Hebron Asia International Institute of Technology) is an AI-focused international university that seeks to serve the world through the values of God’s Kingdom by integrating the Gospel and Artificial Intelligence. Its goal is to nurture the GLOCAL citizens of gospel-centered global leaders who combine faith and technology.

 

2. Who is establishing HAIT?

– HAIT is being established by the Hebron Asia Foundation (HAF), with Christian professors, missionaries, and educators from Korea, the United States, Singapore, and Thailand participating in the founding process.

3. When will HAIT officially open?

– The university is scheduled to open in August 2026, and campus construction is currently underway.

4. What is the language of instruction?

– All regular academic programs are conducted in English. Some general education courses (e.g., Thai for Communication) may include local languages as exceptions.

5. What nationalities will the students represent?

– HAIT aims to be a multinational community where students from across Asia—Thailand, Korea, the U.S., Singapore, Vietnam, Myanmar, Cambodia, China, and beyond—learn together in English.

 

FAQs on Appointment and Employment

 

1. What are the differences between full-time, visiting, and adjunct faculty?

– Full-time faculty participate in teaching, department administration, and student mentoring on a regular basis.
– Visiting faculty teach and advise students for a limited period (e.g., during sabbatical).
– Adjunct faculty teach specific courses online or on-site on a course-by-course basis.

2. What is the typical employment period?

– Both long-term (one year or more) and short-term (one semester) appointments are possible. The schedule can be adjusted based on missionary work or sabbatical plans.

3. Is it possible to teach only online?

– Some courses can be conducted online, while major-specific courses that require departmental participation are primarily on-site. Arrangements can be discussed for each course.

4. What is the difference between paid, self-supported, and mission-sponsored positions?

* Paid: A formal employment contract with HAIT that includes a salary.
* Self-supported: The school provides housing (or rental support), while the faculty member covers living expenses independently and participates in teaching and ministry.
* Mission-sponsored: Faculty members are financially supported by their home church or mission organization while teaching and serving at HAIT.

5. What is the salary level?

– It varies depending on contract type and housing arrangement (self-supported or not). Salaries will be set comparable to local universities, with flexibility during the initial missionary phase.

6. Does the university assist with visa and work permit procedures?

– Yes. HAIT provides full guidance and support for visa issuance and work permit applications.

7. Is housing provided?

– During the early stage, the school will offer faculty guesthouses or rental apartments or provide a housing allowance.

8. Can I bring my family?

– Yes. The university will also help provide information about schools and living environments for children.

9. Can I teach as a visiting professor during my sabbatical year?

– Yes. Contracts can be made for at least one semester, and housing and administrative support will be provided.

1. Is there an application deadline?

2. How is the interview conducted?

– Interviews are held online (via Zoom, etc.), evaluating both faith and educational philosophy as well as professional expertise.

3. Do I need to submit a sample lecture or syllabus?

– Not mandatory, but may be requested during the selection process to assess teaching capability.

4. When can I start working?

– Early recruits may participate in pre-opening preparations (2025–2026) such as curriculum development and student recruitment.
Formal teaching begins in August 2026.

5. Is research activity possible?

– Yes. After its opening, HAIT will operate AI research centers and international collaborative projects.

1. What kind of city is Chiang Rai?

– Chiang Rai, in northern Thailand, is a peaceful and beautiful city known for its clean air, safety, affordable living costs, and vibrant missionary and educational communities.

2. What is the average cost of living?

– Approximately USD 600–800 per month for individuals and USD 1,500–2,000 for families, depending on lifestyle.

3. What is the climate like?

– A tropical monsoon climate: cool and pleasant from November to February, hot from March to June, and rainy from July to October. It’s comfortable year-round without cold winters.

4. Are there local medical facilities and international schools?

– Yes. Chiang Rai has several international hospitals and international schools (e.g., CRIS, CRICS).

5. Do I have to learn the local language?

– Basic conversational Thai is helpful but not required, as the campus operates primarily in English. HAIT will provide introductory Thai language classes.

1. How long does visa processing take?

– Approximately 4–6 weeks after document submission. The university provides full support throughout the process.

2. Are airfare or relocation costs covered?

– For long-term full-time faculty, partial support may be available through individual negotiation.

3. Is there insurance or medical support?

– Full-time faculty will be provided with basic health and accident insurance.

4. Are faculty required to participate in worship or faith programs?

– Yes. Faculty members are encouraged to participate voluntarily and communally in weekly worship and small groups. This is a core part of HAIT’s culture.

5. When will I hear back after submitting my application?

– Applicants will be notified of the first-round screening results within 2–3 weeks after submission. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted individually for interviews.
